Valve's Steam Machine ships June 29 for $1,049, but you probably won't be able to buy one yet

Valve announced its Steam Machine, a TV-friendly gaming PC, will go on sale June 29, 2025, with a starting price of $1,049. The release was delayed due to rising component costs influenced by the AI boom in late 2025, which impacted storage and RAM prices. The Steam Machine will be available in two configurations: one with 512GB of storage priced at $1,049 and a 2TB version for $1,349. Customers can also bundle a Steam Controller for an additional $79. The 2TB model includes exclusive faceplates with red fabric and walnut finishes. Both versions will operate on the Linux-based SteamOS and feature a custom six-core AMD Zen 4 CPU capable of reaching a 4.8GHz clock speed. The integrated AMD RDNA3 GPU will have 28 compute units and 8GB of DDR6 VRAM, complemented by 16GB of DDR5 RAM on the board. Valve suggests this hardware configuration, combined with upscaling technology, will be sufficient for playing moderately demanding PC games on a television.
