Valérie Donzelli, Carolina Cavalli to Lead Venice Film Festival Juries

La Biennale di Venezia announced on August 10, 2023, that French director Valérie Donzelli will preside over the international jury for the Horizons section at the 83rd Venice Film Festival. Donzelli, also an actor and screenwriter, will lead a jury that includes American film distributor Peter Becker and Hong Kong-American director Andrew Chan.

Italian director Carolina Cavalli has been appointed to chair the Luigi De Laurentiis Award jury, which focuses on a debut film. Cavalli, known for her directorial work, will oversee the selection of the best debut film from the festival's first-time directors. The festival is scheduled to run from August 30 to September 9, 2023.

The Venice Film Festival, one of the oldest film festivals in the world, continues its tradition of showcasing diverse cinematic voices. The Horizons section highlights contemporary films that represent new trends in international cinema, while the Luigi De Laurentiis Award specifically supports emerging talent in filmmaking.
