Vacheron Constantin Releases 30th Anniversary Overseas Perpetual Calendar

Vacheron Constantin is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Overseas collection with the introduction of a new Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin model. This special edition, limited to 200 pieces, features an 18K white gold case and a newly developed azure dial, marking the first time this specific shade of blue has been used for the collection's dial. The Overseas collection, originally launched in 1996 as a successor to the 222 model, has undergone several evolutions in 2004 and 2016, with the current design maintaining signature elements like the Maltese cross-inspired notched bezel and an integrated bracelet. A key feature of the collection, the tool-free interchangeable strap system, continues to emphasize the Overseas line's focus on travel and versatility.

The anniversary model showcases a lighter, less saturated azure dial compared to the shade introduced in 2016. This lacquered dial's appearance changes with light conditions and is complemented by a matching blue moon-phase display. The watch incorporates white gold hands, markers, and calendar indications to provide contrast while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. Blue Super-LumiNova accents are applied to enhance legibility in low-light conditions. The 41.5mm white gold case has a thickness of only 8.1mm. It comes equipped with an integrated white gold bracelet, as well as interchangeable white and denim-blue rubber straps, all designed for tool-free changes.

At the core of this timepiece is Vacheron Constantin's ultra-thin, self-winding Calibre 1120 QP/1. This movement measures just 4.05mm in thickness and is comprised of 276 components. It offers an approximate power reserve of 40 hours. The perpetual calendar complication within the movement is capable of tracking the date, day, month, and leap-year cycle, in addition to displaying moon phases. This mechanism automatically accounts for the varying lengths of months and the occurrence of leap years, requiring no manual correction until the year 2100. The movement's intricate engineering and slim profile allow for the watch's refined and elegant dimensions, aligning with the Ultra-Thin designation. The launch of this anniversary model underscores Vacheron Constantin's commitment to horological innovation and the enduring appeal of the Overseas collection, which has been a cornerstone of the brand's sport-chic offerings for three decades.
