US's climate.gov site, taken down by Trump, relaunched by nonprofit

Climate.us relaunched on Tuesday, restoring extensive climate research resources previously available on the U.S. government's climate.gov website. The original climate.gov was taken offline following Executive Order 14303, titled "Restoring Gold Standard Science," and a subsequent memorandum from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy dated June 23, 2025. This redirection led to climate research products being moved to NOAA.gov/climate and affiliated sites, with the government implying that climate research had not met "gold standard science" criteria. However, a group of volunteers, including former climate.gov administrators, preserved copies of the data, which is not subject to U.S. government copyright restrictions. This preserved material has now been made accessible again through the newly launched climate.us website. The relaunch signifies a successful effort by non-governmental entities to maintain public access to critical climate information that was removed from official government channels.
