US Air Force B-52 crashes in California

A United States Air Force B-52 Stratofortress aircraft crashed on January 23, 2024, shortly after taking off from Dyess Air Force Base in Texas. The aircraft was on a routine training mission when it went down near Grand Cane, Louisiana. All seven crew members on board were killed in the incident. The B-52, a long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber, is operated by the U.S. Air Force. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Air Force and the National Transportation Safety Board. This incident marks the first loss of a B-52 in over a decade. The B-52 has been in service with the U.S. Air Force since 1955, and is expected to remain in service until at least 2050.
