URWERK Bids Farewell to the UR-120 With the "Blue Planet" Edition

URWERK unveiled the UR-120 Blue Planet this week, marking the final edition of its UR-120 watch series. This limited edition features a deep blue, sandblasted steel case and a distinctive "Vulcan salute" satellite complication. The watch measures 47mm wide, 44mm long, and 15.8mm thick, with articulated lugs designed for a comfortable fit. The UR-120 Blue Planet is powered by the self-winding Calibre UR-20.01, a 4 Hz movement that displays time using three orbiting hour satellites. A unique mechanical sequence occurs as each satellite reaches the left side of the case, splitting into a "V" shape, a complication referred to as the "Vulcan salute." This intricate mechanism is controlled by a lyre-shaped spring and Maltese crosses, utilizing 175 components within the carousel. To enhance its visual appeal, URWERK has applied a 24K yellow-gold PVD coating to the lyre springs and Maltese crosses. Master watchmaker Felix Baumgartner stated this gold highlights the active components responsible for energy management. The movement, visible through a domed sapphire crystal, offers a 48-hour power reserve and features high-end finishing. The UR-120 Blue Planet is limited to 20 pieces and is priced at approximately $128,000 USD.
