American Airlines Adds Flagship Suites to Boeing 787-8 Fleet

American Airlines confirmed this week its intention to install its premium Flagship Suites on its fleet of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. These suites, which include sliding privacy doors, represent an upgrade to the business-class cabin on these aircraft. The airline previously debuted this latest-generation Flagship product on its larger 787-9 planes just over a year ago.

The 787-8s are also scheduled for a broader cabin refresh, incorporating the airline's updated interior design that features brighter blue seats in economy. This refresh aims to provide frequent flyers with access to American's most advanced premium seating across an increasing number of aircraft types. Currently, the Flagship Suites are available on 11 Boeing 787-9 aircraft and on the airline's new Airbus A321XLRs.

Looking ahead, American Airlines plans to introduce the Flagship Suites on its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft later this year. A total of 20 of these larger jets are slated for retrofitting in the coming years. Furthermore, 47 of the airline's Boeing 777-200ER aircraft are also scheduled to receive the new cabin and Flagship product.
