Dara Petrova's photo exhibition, "The Echo of War," opened on June 10, 2024, at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Kyiv, Ukraine. The collection features 50 images captured over two years of the ongoing conflict, focusing on the emotional toll and the subtle ways war has become integrated into daily life. Petrova's work aims to move beyond battlefield imagery to explore the psychological impact on civilians, showcasing moments of resilience, loss, and quiet endurance. One series depicts children playing amidst the ruins of their homes, while another captures the stoic faces of elderly residents in war-affected towns. The exhibition also includes portraits of Ukrainian soldiers during their downtime, highlighting their humanity and the emotional burden they carry. Petrova stated in an interview with The Kyiv Independent on June 12, 2024, that her goal was to "give a voice to the unspoken experiences of war, to show the world that the human spirit persists even in the darkest times." The exhibition will run until August 31, 2024, and a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to support Ukrainian war veterans and their families through the "Help for Heroes" foundation.
