UK court jails Palestine Action activists on ‘terrorism’ charges
A UK court sentenced four pro-Palestine activists to jail on terrorism charges on October 24, 2024, for their involvement in a raid on an Israeli arms factory. The activists, associated with the group Palestine Action, were found guilty of causing criminal damage and using threatening behaviour during the January 2024 incident at the Elbit Systems UAV Engines factory in Tamworth. The court heard that the group used a drone to spray-paint the factory and deployed a banner reading "Free Palestine." Palestine Action stated that their actions were a direct response to Elbit Systems' alleged role in supplying weapons used in conflicts in Gaza. The sentencing follows a period of increased activism targeting companies with ties to Israel, with similar actions reported against other defense manufacturers.
