Tudor Giurgiu on Charting a New Direction in Rollicking Transilvania Film Festival Opener ‘3 Days in September’

The 25th Transilvania International Film Festival opened on June 14, 2024, with the premiere of Tudor Giurgiu's film "3 Days in September." This Romanian drama, directed and produced by Giurgiu, centers on Bianca, played by Andreea Vasile, whose wedding is disrupted by the groom's mistress. The film follows Bianca's subsequent emotional journey toward redemption. Giurgiu, known for his 2021 film "Freedom," stated that "3 Days in September" marks a new direction for him, exploring themes of personal crisis and self-discovery. The festival, which runs until June 23, 2024, will screen 212 films from 47 countries, including 12 films in its official competition. This year's edition also features a retrospective dedicated to the work of director and screenwriter Lucian Pintilie and a focus on French cinema. The festival aims to showcase a diverse range of cinematic voices and stories, reinforcing its position as a significant European film event.
