Trump Says Justice Department to Look Into High Gasoline Prices

President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Justice to investigate gasoline prices on September 18, 2019, stating they were not decreasing sufficiently. Trump expressed his belief that the Federal Reserve was not acting to lower interest rates, which he linked to the high cost of fuel. He suggested that the Federal Reserve's actions, or lack thereof, were contributing to the problem. The President indicated that he had spoken with Attorney General William Barr about the matter. Trump also mentioned that he had spoken with Saudi Arabia and Russia about oil production, implying a desire for increased output to lower prices. He stated that he was not happy with the Federal Reserve and that they were making a mistake by not lowering interest rates.
