MorningStar Farms initiated a recall of its vegetarian chicken nuggets and sausage patties on June 22, 2024, due to the potential presence of plastic pieces. The affected products include 10.5 oz bags of "MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets" with UPC code 000 28989 10110 5 and "best by" dates of July 7 and 8, 2027. Also recalled are 8 oz bags of "MorningStar Farms Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties" with UPC code 000 28989 10094 8 and "best by" dates of July 5, 6, and 7, 2027. These items were distributed across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica. The recall notice, published by the Food and Drug Administration and on the website of MorningStar Farms' parent company, Kellanova (owned by Mars Inc.), does not specify particular retailers where the products were sold. Consumers who have purchased the recalled items are advised to discard them and contact MorningStar Farms for a full refund.
