The Apothecary Diaries Anime Film Trailer Released
TOHO Animation has released the first trailer for the anime film 'The Apothecary Diaries the Movie: Bouhi no Hihou (The Late Consort’s Secret Treasure).' The film is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on December 11, 2026. It features an entirely new mystery storyline penned by the series' original author, Natsu Hyuga, expanding the narrative beyond the established manga and light novel content. The plot follows protagonists Maomao and Jinshi as they travel to Minanzhou, a floating water city, to return the remains of a deceased Imperial concubine. A new character, Muqing, a distressed youth from the ruling provincial clan, will be voiced by actress Mariya Ise and will seek Maomao's assistance. The trailer offers a preview of this original mystery and the expanded scope of the film. The official announcement was made via the anime's official Twitter account, @kusuriya_PR, on July 2, 2026, accompanied by a teaser visual. This film marks a new installment in The Apothecary Diaries franchise.
