Swedish boutique genre specialist Mylla Films, a venture co-founded by "Midsommar" producer Patrik Andersson and Jakob Abrahamsson, the CEO of Nordic indie distribution powerhouse NonStop Entertainment, has significantly expanded its slate of Nordic genre films. Since its high-profile launch at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, Mylla Films has rapidly become a magnet for top-tier Nordic genre talent, attracting considerable interest from established filmmakers and creatives. As Abrahamsson noted to Variety, "People with tremendous CVs and filmographies are reaching out to us," indicating the company's burgeoning reputation and appeal within the international genre film community.

Among the key acquisitions announced is the rights to Tobias Forge's segment for the upcoming horror anthology "V/H/S Mixtape." Tobias Forge is widely recognized as the enigmatic lead singer and principal songwriter of the Grammy-nominated Swedish rock band Ghost, a band known for its theatrical performances and distinctive blend of hard rock and pop. This marks a significant foray into horror filmmaking for Forge, leveraging his creative vision beyond his musical endeavors.

Further bolstering its slate, Mylla Films has also secured distribution rights for "Trespassers," a Swedish horror film currently in post-production. Directed by Johan Lundin and penned by Martin Lundberg, this project adds another compelling narrative to the company's growing portfolio.

In a notable move, Mylla Films is also backing "The End," a new project helmed by Henrik Svensson, who previously served as the production designer for Ari Aster's critically acclaimed folk horror masterpiece "Midsommar." This film represents Svensson's directorial debut, showcasing Mylla Films' commitment to fostering emerging directorial talent and supporting creatives transitioning into new roles within the genre space.
