Tim Allen Says ‘Home Improvement’ Reboot Is ‘Stuck’ Because of On-Screen Sons’ ‘Personality Problems’ in Real Life: ‘They’ve Got Their Own Issues’

Tim Allen stated that a "Home Improvement" reboot is currently stalled due to "personality problems" among the actors who portrayed his on-screen sons. Allen, who starred as Tim "The Toolman" Taylor in the original ABC sitcom that ran from 1991 to 1999, indicated that while discussions about a revival have occurred, they are impeded by these interpersonal issues. He suggested that the actors portraying his sons, Taran Noah Smith (Mark Taylor) and Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Randy Taylor), have "their own issues" that prevent the project from moving forward. Allen also mentioned that Zachery Ty Bryan, who played Brad Taylor, is also involved in these complications. The original series concluded with Allen's character, Tim Taylor, moving to Michigan to host a television show, with his sons having grown into young adults. Allen's comments were made in relation to his upcoming role in "Toy Story 5," where he reprises his voice role as Buzz Lightyear.
