Threads adds new personalization and community features as it reaches 500M monthly users

Meta's Threads platform announced on June 20, 2024, that it has surpassed 500 million monthly active users and is introducing new features to enhance personalization and community engagement. Among the key additions is a "Your Algo" tool, which grants users direct control over their feed content by allowing them to prioritize specific accounts or topics. This move aims to address user feedback regarding algorithmic curation and provide a more tailored experience. Additionally, Threads is rolling out a "Community Notes" feature, enabling users to contribute context and fact-check posts, a system similar to X's (formerly Twitter) Community Notes. The platform is also enhancing its search functionality with improved topic discovery and the ability to search for posts containing specific keywords. These updates signify Meta's ongoing efforts to refine Threads into a competitive social media space, building on its rapid user growth since its launch in July 2023.
