This robotic arm charges your EV so you don’t have to

Xiaomi launched a fully automatic robotic arm for charging electric vehicles (EVs) without human intervention. This new consumer device is part of Xiaomi's extensive ecosystem of auto and electronics products. The company has completed preparations for mass production and anticipates initial equipment deliveries in the third quarter of 2026, with a full commercial launch planned for the fourth quarter of 2026. Xiaomi founder Lei Jun stated that the robotic arm is already operational in some private garages, fulfilling a concept previously envisioned by Elon Musk for Tesla in 2014. The robotic arm is designed to eliminate the daily hassle of manually connecting and disconnecting EV charging cables. Unlike shared mobile charging robots available in China, Xiaomi's product is a personal unit intended for installation in private garages or building parking spaces, positioning it as the first commercial, consumer EV charging robot. The device features a brushed-aluminum rectangular base, resembling a high-end video game console, with a compact, silver design and rounded edges. A prominent red "STOP" button is located on the back for emergency shutdowns, and a blue ambient light strip runs along its base.
