Hyundai IONIQ 3 Draws Record Early Inquiries

Hyundai has announced that its new IONIQ 3 electric hatchback is generating record-breaking levels of customer interest ahead of its launch later this year. The compact EV, which debuted at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, is positioned as a more accessible option compared to the IONIQ 5. Early indications suggest strong demand, with dealership listings for the entry-level Standard Range model in the UK starting as low as £22,245 GBP, approximately $29,714 USD. The expected starting price for the vehicle is under £25,000 GBP.

The IONIQ 3 is built on a cost-effective 400V architecture variant of the E-GMP platform. It will be available with two battery options: a 42.2 kWh pack offering up to 213 miles of WLTP range, and a larger 61 kWh pack capable of delivering up to 308 miles on a single charge. The vehicle supports rapid DC fast charging, with the standard battery able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 29 minutes, and the long-range version achieving the same in 30 minutes.

Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the IONIQ 3 features an "Aero Hatch" design that maximizes interior space. The cabin offers 441 liters of luggage capacity and is equipped with a technologically advanced environment. This includes the new Android Automotive-based Pleos Connect infotainment system, controlled via either a 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch central touchscreen. The vehicle also introduces the Gleo AI assistant. Hyundai highlights a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.263 for the IONIQ 3.
