BEAMS x HOKA Bondi 7 Zen Garden Collaboration Releases August 14

Japanese retailer BEAMS and performance footwear brand HOKA have collaborated on a new iteration of the HOKA Bondi 7, drawing inspiration from the serene aesthetics of traditional Japanese Zen gardens. This partnership introduces a unique design philosophy, referred to as 'wabi-sabi,' which embraces imperfection and natural simplicity. The campaign visuals for this collaboration prominently feature a traditional Zen garden setting, underscoring the collection's thematic elements. The BEAMS x HOKA Bondi 7 is presented in two distinct neutral colorways: an earthy brown and a creamy off-white. Both versions are characterized by an all-over camouflage pattern that aims to evoke the natural textures found in pebbles and stones, contributing to a rustic and organic feel. Further enhancing the Zen garden theme, the design incorporates vertical, combed overlays around the toe box. These overlays are specifically crafted to resemble the 'hōkime' patterns, which are created by raking sand or gravel in Zen gardens, a practice intended to promote meditation and tranquility. The HOKA Bondi 7, known for its ultra-cushioned and comfortable design suitable for all-day wear, features a relatively understated upper constructed from textured mesh. The shoe also includes taping on the back heel for added support and structure. A subtle yet distinctive detail is the use of suede heel counters, finished with reflective stripes to provide a bright accent and enhance visibility. The camouflage effect extends across the entire shoe, from the midsole to the uppers, unifying the design in its respective colorway. The collaboration's release strategy is phased, beginning with a pre-sale event. Starting on August 7, customers can access the pre-sale at BEAMS Harajuku and BEAMS BOY Harajuku. The collection will then become available at BEAMS and BEAMS BOY stores, as well as through the official BEAMS webstore, on August 8. The global release is scheduled for August 14, when the BEAMS x HOKA Bondi 7 will be accessible worldwide through HOKA's official channels and select HOKA retailers.
