Mattel Releases Angel Reese Barbie Doll

Mattel released a new Barbie doll inspired by professional basketball player Angel Reese on July 24. The doll features a Barbie pink uniform with Reese's number 5 and pink Reebok Angel Reese 1 sneakers, reflecting her "Bayou Barbie" nickname earned during her college career with the LSU Tigers. Nathan Baynard, Vice President and Head of Barbie at Mattel, stated that the company honors role models who inspire girls to imagine possibilities, highlighting Reese's on-court achievements, leadership, and advocacy. Reese expressed that having her own Barbie doll is a dream come true, aiming to show girls there are no limits to their achievements and encouraging them to be unapologetically themselves. The collaboration also includes matching Barbie pink sneakers and jerseys for purchase. The Angel Reese Barbie doll is available on Mattel's official shop and through retailers such as Target, Walmart, and Amazon. Reese is also a proponent for women's empowerment through the Angel C. Reese Foundation, which focuses on providing equal opportunities in sports, education, and financial literacy for girls and underserved communities.
