Terminator 2 35th Anniversary Global Re-Release Set

James Cameron's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" is set for a 35th-anniversary theatrical re-release on August 28 in U.S. cinemas. StudioCanal, Fathom Entertainment, and Rialto Pictures are collaborating on this event, which will also see the film play in theaters globally through late August and early September. This marks the return of the acclaimed 1991 sequel to the big screen.

The re-release celebrates 35 years since the original "Terminator" film, released in 1984, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton. "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" itself was a critical and commercial success, earning over $520 million worldwide during its initial run and winning four Academy Awards for its technical achievements, including Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing, and Best Makeup.

The film is renowned for its groundbreaking visual effects, particularly the pioneering use of CGI for the T-1000 character, a liquid metal antagonist. Its narrative continued the story of Sarah Connor and her son John, as they are protected by a reprogrammed T-800 model from a more advanced Terminator sent to kill John. The re-release aims to offer a new generation of moviegoers the chance to experience the film's iconic action sequences and special effects in a theatrical setting.
