Teenage Engineering Updates KO II Sampler With Lo-Fi Mode
Teenage Engineering released OS 2.5 for its EP-133 KO II sampler this week, delivering a significant update that enhances the device's capabilities. The update introduces a "lo-fi" mode with selectable sample rates, allowing users to achieve vintage audio textures. This feature is designed to provide a more characterful sound, reminiscent of older sampling hardware.
Further expanding the sampler's functionality, OS 2.5 adds audio over USB, enabling direct audio streaming to and from a connected computer. This facilitates easier integration into digital audio workstations and simplifies the process of transferring samples. The update also includes a sample reverse function, an arpeggiator for creating melodic patterns, and an equal-length auto-chopping feature for precise sample editing.
In addition to these creative tools, the maximum sample length has been extended from 20 seconds to 32 seconds. This increase provides users with more room for intricate sound design and longer audio loops. The EP-133 KO II, priced at $329, has seen multiple updates since its release, with OS 2.5 being one of the most substantial, demonstrating Teenage Engineering's commitment to ongoing product development.
