Ted Lasso Star Toheeb Jimoh Leads BBC's 'Open Water' Adaptation

Toheeb Jimoh, known for his role in the Emmy-nominated series 'Ted Lasso,' and Dujonna Gift, who appeared in 'Snow White,' are set to lead the BBC's adaptation of Caleb Azumah Nelson's debut novel, 'Open Water.' The series will be directed by John J. McCann.

Jimoh will portray Marcus, a character working in retail while pursuing a career as a photographer. Gift will play Effie, a university student studying dance in Dublin. The narrative explores their relationship from their initial meeting, delving into themes of love, art, and the complexities of modern relationships.

'Open Water' was first published in 2021 and received critical acclaim for its poignant exploration of a relationship between two young Black individuals in London. The novel was praised for its lyrical prose and its sensitive portrayal of intimacy and vulnerability. The BBC adaptation aims to translate these elements to the screen, capturing the emotional depth of the source material.
