Tate Brothers Arrested in Miami on UK Extradition Warrant

Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday, with U.S. Marshals taking them into custody on a sealed warrant related to an extradition request from British authorities. The brothers, who are dual U.S. and British citizens, are sought by the United Kingdom on charges alleging they raped and trafficked women between 2010 and 2017. This arrest places the United States at the center of an international legal process that has spanned from Romania to Britain.

The Tates moved to Romania in 2016 and were previously arrested there in 2022 on accusations of participating in schemes to lure women for sexual exploitation. They denied those allegations, and the Romanian case had not progressed due to legal and procedural issues. Last year, they were permitted to leave Romania and traveled to Florida via private jet. Their legal team has stated they deny the new charges from the UK, with attorney Joseph McBride calling them "filth and slander" intended to disrupt defamation lawsuits filed by the brothers in the U.S.

British prosecutors officially announced their pursuit of the brothers' extradition on Saturday. The charges in the United Kingdom pertain to alleged abuses of women in an area north of London, where the brothers grew up. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the arrest, with spokesperson Brady McCarron providing details to The Associated Press. The brothers are expected to appear in Miami's federal court early next week, according to a person familiar with the sensitive law enforcement operations who spoke anonymously.
