Swatch Melts Vintage OMEGA Gold for Limited MoonSwatch

Swatch and OMEGA launched the MoonSwatch Mission to the Moon 1969 on July 16, 2026, a limited edition of 1,969 pieces commemorating the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Each watch incorporates 11 grams of 18K Moonshine™ Gold, derived from melted vintage OMEGA spare parts dating back to the Apollo 11 era. This gold is used for the dial, hands, crown, and pushers, with the weight serving as a direct reference to the mission number. The 42 mm Bioceramic chronograph features a matte black case, a gold-finished tachymeter bezel, recessed counters, and vintage OMEGA typography.

Further historical nods include a battery cover engraved with a golden moon and footprint, and individual numbering on the case flank. The watch is completed with a black rubber strap featuring a Velcro closure and moon-textured lining. The price is set at $570 USD (500 CHF), reflecting the cost of gold on July 21, 1969.

Acquiring the Mission to the Moon 1969 requires an online Electronic Swatch Timepiece Application (ESTA) submitted between July 16 and July 21, 2026. Only 1,969 applicants will be selected to purchase the timepiece. This release highlights the cultural significance of the MoonSwatch line by offering a unique, story-driven edition for collectors.
