Sundance Institute and UCLA Forge Filmmaker Development Pact

The Sundance Institute and UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television have established a five-year collaboration aimed at nurturing the next generation of filmmakers and storytellers. This partnership is slated to commence in September and will integrate UCLA's academic strengths with the Sundance Institute's extensive experience in artist development.

The agreement leverages the Sundance Institute's established platform, Sundance Collab, which currently connects an international community of over 130,000 artists from 177 countries. This initiative seeks to provide emerging talent with crucial resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities within the global film and television industry. The collaboration is designed to foster innovation and diverse voices in storytelling.

Through this pact, students and emerging artists will gain access to specialized training programs, workshops, and potential pathways to Sundance's renowned festivals and labs. The goal is to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice, offering a comprehensive development experience. This initiative underscores a commitment to supporting independent cinema and expanding access to creative opportunities for a wider range of artists.
