Stellantis Adopts Mobileye Tech for Hands-Free Driving

Stellantis announced on Tuesday that it will leverage technology from Intel's Mobileye to equip its vehicle brands with Level 2 hands-free driving capabilities. This partnership will see Stellantis begin integrating Mobileye's EyeQ system-on-a-chip (SoC) into its vehicles starting in 2027. The integration will also include Mobileye's Road Experience Management (REM) program, a crowdsourcing initiative that utilizes real-time data collected from vehicles equipped with Mobileye technology. This data is used to continuously build and update high-definition maps essential for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

The EyeQ SoC is designed to process complex sensor data, enabling features such as adaptive cruise control and lane centering, which are hallmarks of Level 2 autonomy. Mobileye's REM technology is crucial for creating and maintaining these detailed maps, allowing vehicles to understand their environment with greater precision and reliability. By crowdsourcing data from a fleet of vehicles, Stellantis aims to accelerate the development and deployment of its hands-free driving features, ensuring they are robust and up-to-date.

This collaboration signifies a strategic move by Stellantis to enhance its in-car technology offerings and compete in the evolving automotive landscape. The adoption of Mobileye's advanced ADAS solutions is expected to improve safety and convenience for drivers across Stellantis's diverse portfolio of brands.
