STAT+: Definium LSD therapy helped patients with major depression in late-stage trial

Definium Therapeutics announced on Monday that its LSD therapy, known as DT120, demonstrated significant efficacy in patients with major depression during its initial Phase 3 clinical trial. The trial results indicated that six weeks after receiving a single dose of DT120, participants experienced an average reduction of 13.3 points on the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS). In contrast, patients who received a placebo saw a decrease of only 5.2 points on the same scale. By the 12-week mark, the therapeutic benefits of DT120 showed a slight decrease but remained largely sustained, with patients on the drug showing an 11-point drop from their baseline MADRS scores, compared to a 3.6-point drop in the placebo group. These findings position the psychedelic drug closer to potential regulatory approval.
