Spirited Away Stage Play Announces Global Tour Through 2028

The acclaimed stage play adaptation of Studio Ghibli's "Spirited Away" has announced a comprehensive world tour scheduled to run from late 2026 through March 2028. This multi-year international engagement follows the production's initial success in Japan in 2022 and its record-breaking, award-winning run at the London Coliseum in 2024. The play, co-adapted by Maoko Imai and directed by Tony and Olivier Award-winner John Caird, is recognized for its inventive staging, elaborate set designs, and use of puppetry to recreate the visual magic of Hayao Miyazaki's Oscar-winning animated film.

The global tour is set to commence on December 16, 2026, at the National Theater in Taipei, Taiwan, with performances scheduled until January 31, 2027. Following its Taiwanese debut, the production will return to Tokyo, Japan, for a limited engagement from March to May 2027. The tour will then proceed to North America, beginning at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre from May 6 to August 15, 2027. The highly anticipated United States premiere is slated for the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, California, from September 2 to October 24, 2027.

The extensive international journey will conclude with a return to the UK, featuring an encore run at the London Coliseum in March 2028. The production aims to bring its theatrical interpretation of the beloved animated feature to diverse audiences worldwide, continuing its acclaim for capturing the surreal wonder of the original film.
