Seiko 5 Sports, Honda Launch Motocompo 45th Anniversary Watch

Seiko 5 Sports has launched a limited-edition timepiece in collaboration with Honda to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Honda Motocompo, an ultra-compact folding scooter that emerged as a symbol of Japanese urban mobility during the 1980s. The original Motocompo was produced between 1981 and 1985 and was ingeniously designed to fit within the trunk of the Honda City car, epitomizing practicality, innovation, and a playful design ethos. This collaborative watch aims to translate these core qualities by merging Seiko's established mechanical watchmaking expertise with Honda's enduring design legacy.

The new Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition watch is housed in a 36mm case, characteristic of Seiko 5 Sports Field series models. Its design prominently features a vibrant yellow dial, directly referencing the Motocompo's original color scheme, accented with bold black lines. The dial also incorporates the classic Honda logo positioned at the 9 o'clock mark and displays the word "AUTOMATIC" rendered in Honda's distinctive typeface. Further nods to the scooter's design are evident in the crown, which is engraved with the word "TURN," and the nylon strap, featuring an "Insertion Point" engraving that pays homage to the scooter's car-securing "carrying point" component. The case back of the watch is finished with a layer of red paint, reminiscent of the Motocompo's accent trim, and includes an individual serial number to denote its limited-edition status.

This special edition watch is strictly limited to a global production run of 8,000 pieces. Within this total, the United Kingdom market has been allocated 455 units. Interested buyers can now place pre-orders for the timepiece, with official deliveries expected to commence in September.
