Samsung Launches Galaxy Z8 Foldables and Watches August 7

Samsung unveiled its eighth-generation foldable smartphone lineup on August 7, 2026, featuring three new models: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the top-tier Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is positioned as a new wide-body foldable designed for media consumption, distinct from the multitasking focus of its predecessors. The Z Flip 8 receives a redesign, becoming a thinner flip phone.

Accompanying the new foldables are updated Galaxy Watches. Preorders for the new hardware are now open. However, Samsung indicated that component shortages have led to increased pricing across these product lines for 2026. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is priced at $1,200, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,900, and the premium Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is set at $2,100.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra boasts an 8.0-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 200MP main rear camera. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy SoC and offers up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The device supports 45W wired charging, reaching up to 63% charge in approximately 30 minutes, and 20W wireless charging. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 features a 7.6-inch main display, a 50MP main camera, and similar processing power, with battery options up to 4,800 mAh and 45W wired charging.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8, the most compact option, includes a 6.9-inch main display, a 50MP main camera, and 12GB of RAM. It is equipped with a 4,300 mAh battery and supports 25W wired charging. All three foldable models run on Android 17 with Samsung's One UI 9 interface. The new smartwatches also launch on August 7, with specific models and features detailed separately.
