Salad and Go Closes All Locations Amid Bankruptcy Filing

Salad and Go, a drive-through fast-food chain specializing in healthy options, has ceased all operations and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on August 4. The company, And Go Concepts, LLC, initiated proceedings in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, marking the end of its presence in the Southwestern and South Central U.S. This closure follows several years of financial difficulties and a strategic pivot that ultimately proved insufficient to sustain the business.

Founded in 2013 in Gilbert, Arizona, Salad and Go aimed to provide quick, healthy, and affordable meals through its drive-through-only model, offering salads, wraps, and breakfast items. For its initial eight years, the company focused on expanding its footprint within Arizona. However, in 2021, private equity investors spurred a significant expansion into new states, including Texas, Oklahoma, and Nevada. This rapid growth strategy is cited as a primary factor contributing to the company's eventual downfall.

In 2025, Salad and Go began implementing cost-saving measures by closing numerous locations. This included the closure of 41 stores in Texas and Oklahoma in September of the previous year. By January, an additional 32 locations in those same states were shuttered, leading to a complete exit from the Texas and Oklahoma markets. At the time of the January closures, CEO Mike Tattersfield stated to Fast Company that the decision was made to "exit our Texas and Oklahoma markets and refocus on strengthening our core operations in Arizona and Nevada." Despite this refocusing effort, the company has now announced the closure of all remaining sites.

The company's struggles were exacerbated by a Cyclospora outbreak linked to salads sold by the chain in 2023, which led to numerous illnesses and likely impacted consumer confidence and sales. While the company did not explicitly cite the outbreak as the sole reason for its bankruptcy, it is understood to have been a significant contributing factor to its financial distress. The bankruptcy filing indicates that all remaining Salad and Go locations will close, bringing an end to the chain that sought to offer a healthier fast-food alternative.
