Rui Hachimura Signs 2-Year, $28M Deal With Clippers
Free agent forward Rui Hachimura agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers on a two-year, $28 million USD deal this week. Hachimura will move across town from the Los Angeles Lakers to join the Clippers' frontcourt. The contract reportedly includes a team option for the second season and was finalized using the Clippers' mid-level exception.
This cross-town move is a significant acquisition for the Clippers, who utilized their mid-level exception to secure the forward. Clippers President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank confirmed the signing, highlighting Hachimura's efficient mid-range game and defensive capabilities. Hachimura is expected to integrate into the Clippers' rotation, leveraging his size for mismatches and providing frontcourt depth.
Last season, Hachimura shot 44% from beyond the arc and averaged 11.5 points per game. Lawrence Frank stated that Hachimura is an "elite three-point shooter and an efficient mid-range scorer who uses his size to exploit mismatches. He will strengthen our frontcourt with his one-on-one defense and ability to space the floor."
