RIMOWA Unveils Pigment-Inspired Luggage in Umber and Ultramarine Hues

Luxury luggage manufacturer RIMOWA has introduced two new seasonal colorways, Umber and Ultramarine, to its popular Essential and Groove collections. These sophisticated hues are directly inspired by pigments that have been integral to artistic creation for centuries, lending a historical depth to the modern travel accessories. The Umber shade is a rich, earthy brown, its name derived from the Latin word 'umbra,' meaning shadow. Historically, umber pigments were frequently employed by painters to establish foundational layers and shadows in their works, providing a sense of grounding and warmth. Complementing this is Ultramarine, a vibrant and deep blue. This color historically originated from the semi-precious stone lapis lazuli, a pigment that was exceptionally costly and highly prized by artists, particularly from the Renaissance period onwards, for its intense and luminous blue quality. The new collection emphasizes a meticulous tonal matching across all components of the luggage. For the Essential range, this means the polycarbonate shell, telescopic handle, zippers, logo badge, and wheel housing are all finished in the same uniform color, creating a seamless, uninterrupted monochrome aesthetic. The Essential suitcases feature the brand's signature running gear, including a telescopic handle designed for effortless adjustment without fixed stops, the highly maneuverable Multiwheel system for smooth transit, and TSA-approved locks for security. Additionally, each suitcase comes with a complimentary leather address tag. Internally, the Essential suitcases are designed for optimal organization and capacity. They feature a dual-zone interior, with one side equipped with a fully zipped compartment and a large mesh pocket, and the other side housing RIMOWA's adjustable Flex Divider system. A built-in compression system further allows travelers to maximize their packing space efficiently while maintaining order. The colorways are available across a range of sizes within the Essential collection, from the compact Cabin to the larger Trunk Plus. However, RIMOWA has strategically limited certain formats to specific shades; for example, the Check-In M size is exclusively offered in Ultramarine, while the Check-In L is only available in Umber.
