Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max Launch in India

Xiaomi's Redmi brand has officially launched its latest smartphone offerings in India: the Redmi Note 17 Pro and the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. These devices aim to capture the mid-range market segment by offering a blend of advanced features and competitive pricing. The launch event, held on September 26, 2024, detailed the specifications and availability of both models across the Indian subcontinent. The Redmi Note 17 Pro is positioned as a capable all-rounder, while the Pro Max variant promises enhanced performance and camera capabilities.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro is equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display boasting a 120Hz refresh rate, designed to provide a fluid visual experience for gaming and media consumption. Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and rapid app loading times. The device features a triple rear camera setup headlined by a 108MP primary sensor, complemented by an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, it includes a 16MP front-facing camera. The smartphone is sustained by a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging.

Stepping up, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max shares many core specifications with its sibling, including the 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and the MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra processor. However, it differentiates itself with an upgraded camera system and faster charging. The Pro Max model features a quad rear camera array, with a 200MP primary sensor leading the charge, alongside a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP telephoto lens, and a 2MP macro lens. This significantly higher resolution main sensor is expected to deliver more detailed images, especially in good lighting conditions. The front camera is also upgraded to a 32MP sensor. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max supports 120W hyper-fast charging for its 5,000 mAh battery, allowing for significantly quicker top-ups compared to the standard Pro model.

Both devices run on MIUI 14, based on Android 13, and offer a comprehensive suite of connectivity options including 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. Pricing for the Redmi Note 17 Pro starts at INR 28,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant, with the 12GB RAM/256GB storage model priced at INR 31,999. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max begins at INR 34,999 for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage configuration, and the top-tier 12GB RAM/512GB storage version is set at INR 37,999. Pre-orders commenced on September 26, 2024, with general availability starting October 1, 2024, through major online and offline retail channels across India.
