Rebel Wilson has successfully defended herself in a defamation lawsuit filed by Charlotte MacInnes, the lead actress in Wilson's directorial debut film, "The Deb." Justice Elizabeth Raper of the Federal Court of Australia in Sydney ruled in favor of Wilson on Wednesday, dismissing MacInnes's claims of defamation and breach of confidence. As a result of the ruling, MacInnes has been ordered to cover Wilson's legal expenses.

The legal dispute stemmed from allegations made by MacInnes concerning events that occurred during the production of "The Deb." MacInnes had sued Wilson, alleging that statements made by Wilson had harmed her reputation. The film, which marked Rebel Wilson's first foray into directing, had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2023. The court's decision on Wednesday brings a conclusion to the legal proceedings initiated by MacInnes.

MacInnes's claims included specific allegations related to incidents that allegedly took place during the filming of "The Deb." However, Justice Raper found these claims to be unsubstantiated, leading to the dismissal of the case.
