Porsche's New GT4 Race Car Is Based on the 911 for the First Time

Porsche unveiled the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport's successor, the 911 GT4 R, on May 21, 2024, marking the first time a GT4-spec race car from the German manufacturer is based on the 911 platform. This new model, priced at $375,000, is powered by a 4.0-liter flat-six engine sourced from the 911 GT3 Cup car, delivering 550 horsepower. The 911 GT4 R is designed to meet the SRO GT4 homologation standards and will be eligible for various GT4 racing series worldwide, with its debut planned for the 2027 season. Porsche stated that the car features a significantly revised chassis and aerodynamics compared to its predecessor, aiming for enhanced performance and driver feedback.
