Porsche Unveils "Land Down Under" 911 Turbo S for Australia

Porsche Cars Australia, in collaboration with its in-house Sonderwunsch customization department, has unveiled a unique one-off model, the 911 Turbo S "Land Down Under," to commemorate the brand's 75th anniversary in Australia. This special vehicle is a tribute to the Australian landscape and culture, blending Porsche's engineering prowess with distinct local elements. The unveiling took place during a significant event in Sydney, highlighting the deep connection Porsche aims to foster with the Australian market.

The most striking feature of the "Land Down Under" 911 Turbo S is its bespoke exterior paintwork. Inspired by the colors of the Australian outback at sunset, the vehicle sports a two-tone Chromaflair finish. The lower section of the car transitions from a Terra Australis Red, evoking the dusty earth, into a Southern Cross Blue on the upper half, representing the expansive sky. This specialized Chromaflair paint contains reflective aluminum flakes within a transparent layer, allowing the car's color to shift dramatically based on the viewing angle. The color palette can range from desert orange and dusk-sky blue to eucalyptus green and sunrise gold. The application of this intricate gradient required over 300 hours of meticulous, hand-applied craftsmanship. Further enhancing the custom look, the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Turbo Exclusive wheels have been color-matched to the custom blue hue.

Beyond the exterior, the "Land Down Under" 911 Turbo S incorporates several other unique details that celebrate its Australian identity. A subtle yet distinctive message, "See ya later mate," is integrated and hidden beneath the active rear spoiler, adding a touch of local colloquialism. Inside, the headliner of the vehicle has been meticulously embroidered with a representation of the southern night sky as it appeared over Uluru in 1951, a specific astronomical reference point.
