Polish crypto exchange Kanga secures MiCA license in Latvia

Kanga, a cryptocurrency exchange founded in Poland, secured a Class 3 MiCA license in Latvia on May 15, 2024. This license permits Kanga to offer a full spectrum of crypto-asset services across the European Union, aligning with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. The company's expansion into Latvia follows its previous registration as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) in Poland in 2023. Kanga aims to leverage this EU-wide authorization to enhance its service offerings and reach a broader customer base within the single market. This development occurs as Polish lawmakers continue to deliberate on the specific implementation details of the MiCA framework within their national jurisdiction. The acquisition of the Latvian license positions Kanga as one of the early movers to fully capitalize on the harmonized regulatory environment established by MiCA, which officially came into effect in June 2024. The exchange plans to integrate its services with traditional financial systems, offering features such as fiat-to-crypto trading and crypto-to-fiat withdrawals.
