Polestar 4 SUV Launches With Rear Window and 630km Range

Polestar officially launched the Polestar 4 SUV on October 26, 2023, introducing a new body style to its compact executive electric SUV lineup. This latest model begins at a starting price of €57,900 and boasts an impressive WLTP range of up to 630 kilometers (approximately 391 miles) on a single charge. A significant design departure from the previously revealed Polestar 4 coupé, the SUV variant incorporates a traditional rear window, a feature notably absent in its coupé counterpart. The Polestar 4 is positioned as a blend of a coupé and an SUV, aiming to offer a sporty aesthetic with the practicality of a sport utility vehicle. The vehicle is built on the Premium Performance Electric Architecture (PPE) platform, co-developed by Polestar's parent company, Volvo, and its parent company, Geely. This platform is designed to support advanced electric vehicle technologies, including high-performance powertrains and fast-charging capabilities. The Polestar 4 is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system as standard, delivering a combined output of 400 kW (536 horsepower) and 686 Nm (506 lb-ft) of torque. This power enables the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds.

In terms of battery technology, the Polestar 4 utilizes a 100 kWh battery pack, with 94 kWh of that being usable. The vehicle supports DC fast charging at speeds of up to 200 kW, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under optimal conditions. AC charging is supported at up to 22 kW. The interior of the Polestar 4 features a minimalist design, characteristic of Polestar's Scandinavian design philosophy. It includes a large 15.4-inch central infotainment touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital driver display, and a unique 'smart' electrochromic glass roof that can be tinted electronically, eliminating the need for a physical sunshade. The absence of a rear window in the coupé version was compensated by a high-resolution camera displaying a real-time feed on an interior screen, a feature that has been retained in the SUV model alongside the physical rear window.

The Polestar 4 SUV is slated for market entry in early 2024, with initial deliveries expected in the first quarter. The vehicle will be available in key markets including Europe, North America, and China. Pricing varies by region, with the €57,900 figure applying to the European market.
