To mark the upcoming 10th anniversary, Steranka has set a personal goal to "create core memories" for all players through these new events. The recent "Pokémon Go" Fest in New York City's Times Square, which featured a Mewtwo raid with up to 1,000 participants, is presented as a precursor to these larger celebrations. This event aimed to test the infrastructure and player engagement strategies for future, even bigger gatherings.

Steranka emphasized that the Times Square event was intentionally designed to be a manageable yet impactful experience, serving as a benchmark for what Niantic can achieve. The success of this event, despite the initial memory of past failures, signals a renewed focus on delivering stable and memorable live experiences for the game's dedicated player base.
