Pivac comes out of semi-retirement for new Italy life

Wayne Pivac accepted a coaching role with Italian club Benetton Rugby on March 18, 2024, marking a return to professional rugby after a period of semi-retirement. This appointment follows his departure from the Welsh Rugby Union in December 2022, where he was dismissed as head coach after a series of disappointing results, including a home loss to Georgia in November 2022. Pivac's tenure with Wales saw a mixed record, with notable wins such as the 2021 Six Nations Grand Slam but also significant defeats that ultimately led to his dismissal. His previous coaching experience includes successful spells with the Scarlets, where he led them to a Pro14 title in 2017, and as an assistant coach for the Fiji national team.
