James Beard Award-winning chef and host of the PBS cooking show “Pati’s Mexican Table,” Pati Jinich, is providing an inside look at her Maryland residence, which has served as the primary filming location for the Daytime Emmy-nominated series for its first 14 seasons. Jinich, 54, typically records the show in the kitchen of her Chevy Chase, Maryland, home. However, for the upcoming 15th season, scheduled to premiere on September 4, Jinich is taking the production to her home country of Mexico. This marks the first time the show will be filmed entirely in Mexico, specifically in Coahuila, a departure from its long-standing practice of using her Maryland kitchen. Jinich explained to Realtor.com® that this shift is a fitting evolution for the series, which not only guides viewers in preparing Mexican dishes but also educates them on Mexico's rich history. The move to Mexico for Season 15 represents a significant change for the show's format and Jinich's career trajectory. Born and raised in Mexico City, Jinich immigrated to Texas in 1997 before relocating to the Washington, D.C. area in 2001, where she initially worked as a political analyst. She turned to cooking as a source of comfort during her transition to the United States. Jinich stated her motivation for sharing Mexican cuisine was rooted in a desire to reconnect with her home country and share the Mexico she knew and missed with a wider audience. She pursued her passion for food alongside her policy work until 2007, when she transitioned fully into the culinary world, becoming the resident chef at the Mexican Cultural Institute of Washington, D.C. It was during this period that Jinich realized the profound ability of food to foster communication, understanding of the world, and self-discovery. In 2010, Jinich undertook a significant renovation of her Chevy Chase, Maryland, residence, transforming it into a Cape Cod-style home.
