PBS SoCal and KMEX Dominate L.A. Area Emmy Awards; KVEA, KABC Recognized for Top Newscasts

The 45th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards ceremony, held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Television Academy's Wolf Theatre in North Hollywood, saw PBS SoCal emerge as the night's most decorated broadcaster, clinching a total of eight Emmy statuettes. PBS SoCal, which operates under the umbrella of PBS Southern California and comprises the stations KOCE and KCET, demonstrated its programming prowess across a diverse range of categories. Its wins included accolades for excellence in live events programming, entertainment content, impactful coverage of crime and social issues, and distinguished arts programming. This broad spectrum of victories highlights PBS SoCal's commitment to serving the Los Angeles community with high-quality, multifaceted content.

Following closely in the competitive local television landscape was Univision's KMEX, which garnered seven awards. The station was honored with Emmys for both the best daily daytime newscast, covering the 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. time slot, and the best daily evening newscast, for the 7 p.m. to midnight period.
