Overwhelmed by news on social? SaySo is betting a smaller, vetted creator feed is the answer
SaySo launched an app in April designed to offer a curated feed of news from vetted creators, aiming to combat the overwhelming nature of social media news consumption. The app's head of product, Cydney Adams, stated that the goal is to provide a trustworthy space for users and an engaged audience for creators, addressing survey data indicating widespread user overwhelm and reliance on online information sources. SaySo is positioned as an evolution of content creation from its parent company, Caliber, which also owns social-first news outlets like The News Movement, The Recount, and Capsule. The News Movement, founded by Will Lewis and Kamal Ahmed, has a significant presence with one million followers on TikTok. SaySo debuted with 30 news creators who have established followings on other platforms and are now cross-posting their content to the new application. Among these creators is Lia Newman, who focuses on climate-related news and is also known for hosting the "Make It Mak" program.
