Sonoma County Historic Home Listed for $3.9 Million

One of Sonoma County's oldest surviving homes, Hassett's Ranch, was listed for sale this week at $3.9 million. Built in 1868 for John D. Hassett, a prominent settler who established Healdsburg's first flour and saw mills and its initial bank, the four-bedroom, two-bathroom Greek Revival residence is being marketed for the first time in over a decade. The home has been meticulously maintained by its current owners for more than 10 years, preserving its historical character while incorporating modern updates.
Rachel Hooper of City Real Estate, who is co-listing the property with Drew Raher, highlighted the home's exceptional condition given its 158-year history, attributing its preservation to both original construction quality and diligent stewardship. The property represents a significant piece of Healdsburg's early development, predating much of the region's well-known winemaking heritage. Hassett himself was instrumental in the town's economic growth, laying foundations for its future prosperity.
While Hassett's Ranch is one of the oldest homes in the area, the only Healdsburg house still standing that is older is the Hassett Cabin, built in 1853, also commissioned by Hassett. The Camellia Inn, constructed in 1869, is another notable historical structure from the same era. The listing emphasizes the home's unique historical significance and its enduring architectural appeal, making it a rare opportunity for prospective buyers interested in owning a piece of California's pioneering past.
