Nothing cancels this year’s CMF phone due to RAM prices
Nothing announced that its next budget smartphone, a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, will not be released this year. Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of Nothing, stated in an X post that the decision was driven by current memory (RAM) prices. He explained that the company was developing a follow-up device, but the elevated cost of RAM made it unfeasible to produce at a competitive price point. This marks a significant shift from their previous strategy, which aimed to offer affordable devices. The company had previously released the CMF Phone 1 in September 2023, which was positioned as an entry-level option.
