Nike Atelier Releases Désiré Doué Limited-Edition Sneaker
Nike Atelier has released a limited-edition sneaker in collaboration with French footballer Désiré Doué. The off-field shoe features a black leather upper inspired by the 1990s Nike Mercurial, an iconic model in football, and a Pegasus-style midsole with visible blue Air cushioning. This collaboration marks an expansion of Nike Atelier's focus on custom designs for signature athletes during key off-field moments.
The design of the sneaker draws heavily from the original Nike Mercurial, a model famously associated with Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Fenomeno. The shoe incorporates a foldover-style tongue subtly embossed with "NIKE ATELIER." The visible blue Air cushioning provides a vibrant contrast to the predominantly black leather upper. While the collaboration was initially teased in June, the official rollout begins with this distinct sneaker.
Nike's Chief Design Officer, Martin Lotti, described Nike Atelier as a platform for creating bespoke designs for select athletes, emphasizing the application of Nike's athlete-driven mindset and craft to moments where identity, environment, and culture are significant. Nike Atelier has previously collaborated with athletes such as tennis champions Jannik Sinner and Maria Sharapova.
The limited-edition Désiré Doué x Nike Atelier sneaker is slated for release at select retailers this summer. An exclusive in-store pre-order opportunity will be available starting July 8 at Dover Street Market Paris. While the preview images suggest accompanying apparel, Nike has not yet released specific details regarding a broader collection.
