Nia Archives Releases "Emotional Junglist" Album

Nia Archives released her second album, "Emotional Junglist," this week, a collection that explores the rapid ascent of falling in love and the subsequent pain of heartbreak. The album features drum-and-bass rhythms and incorporates influences from genres such as Arctic Monkeys and Kate Nash. This release follows her 2024 debut album, "Silence Is Loud."

Archives, who describes herself as an "emotional junglist," has forged a distinct career path. After leaving home at 16, she taught herself music production in Manchester before moving to Hackney to study the craft. She utilized her student loan to fund the promotion of her early self-released singles. Her innovative approach to electronic music has garnered significant recognition.

Her career milestones include being the first electronic/dance act in decades to win a Mobo award, following her advocacy for dance music's inclusion in the awards in 2022. With "Silence Is Loud," Archives became the first junglist nominated for three Brit awards and the first junglist nominated for the Mercury prize since 1997. The album "Emotional Junglist" continues this trajectory, showcasing her evolving sound and artistic vision.
