New HBCU Partnership Speeds Path to Law School

Grambling State University and Southern University Law Center established a 3+3 Accelerated Law Program on June 26, 2026, enabling students to obtain both a bachelor's and a law degree in six years. This initiative aims to reduce educational costs for students and bolster the pipeline of attorneys in Louisiana. The program allows eligible Grambling State students to apply for admission to the Southern University Law Center after completing their third year of undergraduate studies, provided they meet specific academic criteria. Successful completion of the first year of law school will then fulfill the requirements for their bachelor's degree from Grambling State. This partnership is designed to provide a more efficient and affordable pathway to a legal career for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Officials from both institutions signed the agreement, marking a significant step in inter-institutional collaboration to enhance educational opportunities and address workforce needs within the state.
